Each year, an original tale will be penned by a writer and kindred spirit; this will then be narrated by a professional voice that will accompany the listener on a discovery of a theme relevant to our history and to the journey we are on.
In the short novel “A Vintage Enigma” Gianni Farinetti stands by his fame of irresistible portrayer of characters and bourgeoisie society and of what is left of Italian aristocracy. With few masterful strokes he paints a world of eccentric countesses, old chaperons, hot yet anything but bimbo actors, mysterious forgers and Parisian auctioneers, wine collectors ready for anything, marvellous (though a pinch decadent) ancestral houses and sumptuous banquets. A world observed from the lovingly ironic point of view of Sebastiano Guarienti, the protagonist of Farinetti’s literary saga, and his partner, Roberto, a well-read and madly in love architect, that rolls around an iconic bottle of Brunello Biondi-Santi from the legendary 1955 vintage, much beloved by Queen Elizabeth II of England.
